Chris is a Partner highly experienced in all areas of personal injury litigation, together with industrial law and administrative law.

He has practised for over 29 years in the personal injury and industrial law jurisdictions, appearing for clients in the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Federal Court, Industrial Court, District Court, Dust Diseases Tribunal, Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Industrial Relations Commission, Workers Compensation Court and Magistrates Court.

Admitted as a Solicitor in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, Chris has been involved in a number of cross-jurisdictional matters.

Chris has acted for the employer or insurer in a number of Court of Appeal matters, including a Victorian Workers Compensation Commission case involving issues of negligence and the employer’s duty of care.

Administrative issues associated with workers compensation law are also of special interest to Chris. He recently and successfully acted on behalf of an employer whose injured worker appealed for review of the medical assessment of his level of impairment.

Chris has well developed advocacy skills and has appeared in courts and tribunals on behalf of clients, where appropriate, to provide timely, cost effective and seamless matter management.

While Chris has worked across a wide spectrum of industries and sectors, he has developed a special focus over the past 15 years in acting for licensed clubs, where workplace risk often arises from the ownership and management of facilities such as bowling greens and golf courses.

The issue of WorkCover liability in dust diseases matters is another area of recent experience, having acted in a post-1987 exposure case in the Dust Diseases Tribunal where WorkCover had a significant liability. The case was eventually settled for substantially less than the initial claim.

Chris joined the firm in 1987 and became a Partner in 1992. He holds Bachelors Degrees in Arts and Law from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Laws Degree from Sydney University. He has been an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law since 1998 and is a member of the Australian Insurance Law Association.
